Founded 13 years ago in Guatemala, Asociación la Familia Importa (Family Matters Association) is a citizen platform that protects and defends the values that nurture the Guatemalan society: life, family and freedom, through political advocacy actions, educational activity and communication in different national and international spheres.
Our network of organizations includes academic and educated volunteers that work full time in different fields, building the largest ProLife and ProFamily movement in our country. We unify teamwork and multiply functions among organizations, including several religious denominations and public and private sectors to attend the great need for information, education, psychological and legal support, maternity support, childhood and adolescence accompaniment, political incidence and citizen mobilization when needed.
When it comes to communications and social media, we have innovative projects that include a website, a blog, presence in multimedia plataforms and social media campaigns to keep our network and activists updated on our work and content about life, family and freedom. We are considered the main ProLife source of information in Guatemala and Central America.
During the pandemic, our communications department focused on virtual activities, such as webinars, campaigns, live broadcasts and audiovisual material, but the demand for information is big and we want to reach even more people, especially, adolescents that are being dangerously targeted by abortionist, antireligious and LGBT agendas.
That’s why we want to start a new and ambitious project: the first Spanish speaking prolife podcast based in Guatemala, “La Mesa Celeste” (The Skyblue Table).
The light blue color is the color that identifies the Prolife movement in Hispanic countries. Our societies and families are naturally ProLife. Defending life is part of our culture, but due to the constant attacks towards our rights, it is becoming necessary to defend and protect the values that strengthen our societies in all possible spaces. Therefore, “La Mesa Celeste” is that project where our voices can be heard and all Prolife citizens are represented.
Our podcast will discuss different topics around the defense and promotion of the value of life, the family and freedom in a responsible, safe and amicable way. It’s a space where open discussions between experts and activists would be held through interviews, personal stories and forums that will show the importance of human dignity. This podcast will be unique in Guatemala and the region, giving a voice and face to many discussions that are not yet held because of censorship, fear or the lack of a space to talk.
Our mission is to inform, to teach and to propose solutions to the biggest challenges our families face through an audiovisual podcast that will reach thousands around the globe. This is a project of Asociación la Familia Importa, LifeSiteNews and the International Human Rights Group, the latter of which will collect donations.
Asociación La Familia Importa is the leading prolife organization in Guatemala, and this project will expand the prolife work throughout the country and reach new audiences to become the largest and most influential podcast in the Spanish speaking countries.
